In 2020, Smart TVs are the new normal. They’ve taken our homes, schools, workplaces, and are only about to get bigger and more popular. They can easily connect to the Internet and give you access to the largest database of movies, TV shows, and everything else in between. However, they have one significant con, and that’s the sound quality.
No matter how, well, smart your television set is, its sound quality most likely leaves a lot to be desired. That why in this post, I’ll help you find a system with the Best Surround Sound for Samsung Smart TV. Some of them are affordable, while others are quite expensive. And, they all have their strong sides and weak sides. Let’s get right to my list and check out what each brand has to offer.
Comparison Table – Best Surround Sound System for Samsung Smart TV ()
Logitech Z906 5.1
JBL Bar 5.1
Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4
Samsung Harman Kardon 7.1.4
Best Surround Sound System for Samsung Smart TV Review
1. Logitech Z906 5.1
Compared to the other systems on today’s list, Logitech’s offer is the cheapest one. Yes, it is available at a rather affordable price but still offers decent value. For example, the package includes a (stackable) control console, along with a remote. Together, these two devices make Z906 more user-friendly and attractive for regular buyers. Plus, it is officially THX-certified and fine-tuned for home use.
With this system, you’ll get 5.1 surround sound and just enough power output to enjoy music and shows/series. Sadly, there are some quality control issues, and customer support leaves a lot to be desired. Many buyers report defective and damaged shipments and complaint about not-so-helpful customer service.
If not for the quality control/support issues, this surround system would’ve been a bargain. It is rather cheap (compared to the rivals, of course), and can be an excellent addition to your Samsung Smart TV. THX-certified, and packed with a console and a remote, it’s a package deal.
2. JBL Bar 5.1
This next system is all about style and effectiveness. JBL has been on the market for many decades and knows the business all too well. With the Bar, you’ll get a soundbar that can instantly transform into a 5.1 system. All you’ll have to do is detach the two speakers on each side, and that’s it! During my review, I was impressed by the quality of the bass frequencies. They’re quite alright for this price range.
The package includes a remote control, but Bar can also pair up with the one you’ve got at home. Next, the SoundShift technology allows you to quickly “scroll” through the available sound sources. I’m talking about TVs, phones, and tablets, of course. However, to get the best possible sound quality, you might have to manually tweak some knobs and faders. In the factory settings, there’s too much bass, and the mids are too dull.
The detachable wireless speakers, along with the highly useful SoundShift tech are this sound bar’s biggest selling point. It sounds good in the lows, mids, and highs, but you’ll have to do some fine-tuning to help this device reach its full potential. The fans of reasonably-priced surround sound systems will probably find it to be a worthy investment.
3. Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4
With Namamichi, we’re swiftly switching from entry-level systems to market-leading options. Shockwafe Ultra is two, or even three times more expensive than the previous two entries on the list. So, what does it have to offer to justify the steep price-tag? First of all, with it, you’ll get a true 360-degree surround sound. If that’s important to you, do put it on the list.
The second standout feature is the dual wireless subwoofers. That’s right: the package includes two ten-inch woofers instead of one. That means double the bass and a more accurate representation of the entire frequency spectrum. Finally, Shockwafe boasts advanced integration with modern devices. It fully supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and easily handles 4K audio.
Are you ready to spend big bucks on high-quality systems? If the answer is yes, Nakamichi might have a good set for you. Despite the high price, Shockwafe Ultra is one of the finest deals available right now. True 360-degree sound, two woofers, and seamless integration are just some of the highlights.
4. Samsung Harman Kardon 7.1.4
The final product on the list comes from Samsung. That automatically means it will work flawlessly with your Samsung Smart TV. As for the price, it’s almost as expensive as the previous system by Nakamichi. And what about the unique features? Well, it sounds equally good from all four sides, which isn’t always the case with this type of audio equipment. Plus, Harman Kardon is fully compatible with Smart Things by Samsung.
You can use Alexa to control the volume, change the settings, and connect the system to other devices you own by Samsung. This is a 17-speaker sound bar that can easily reproduce the subtlest tones. My only complaint – it only has two HDMI inputs.
This surround system features 17 high-quality speakers, can be plugged into a pre-existing Smart Things hub and looks good in any environment. Samsung offers five different styles/configurations: choose the one that fits you best!
With a proper surround sound system, your Smart TV will turn into a home theater. If you’re a big fan of premium sound quality and are ready to invest, Nakamichi and Samsung have some of the most expensive, yet pro-grade offers. On the other hand, people with more modest budgets may find the Logitech and JBL products to be more reasonable.
For the regular movie fan, they’re just what the doc ordered. Ultimately, there are no rights or wrong here: it all comes down to your budget and your current needs. And no matter which system you choose from my list, rest assured that it will be money well spent. Do you have a favorite? Don’t hesitate to share your top pick(s) in the comments!
